The Making of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’

Producer Tony Visconti walks us through the great individual tracks and instrumental perfomances of ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie, recorded in Berlin, 1977. Great studio techniques and stories from Visconti of Murry, Alomar, Davis, Fripp, Eno, and finally Bowie putting down an insane vocal using a gated multi mic room patch from Visconti. It’s the old durm and strang of Bowie method and results sonically unpacked and mined.

Debussy’s music is noted for its sensory content and frequent usage of nontraditional tonalities.[6] The prominent French literary style of his period was known as Symbolism, and this movement directly inspired Debussy both as a composer and as an active cultural participant.1

Distinct from, but related to, the style of literature, symbolism of art is related to the gothic component of Romanticism.2

Commissioned for the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 the music was created and performed by Campbell Foster using Electro-acoustic / Computational feedback synthesis and the Electro-acoustic Sheet Metal Feedback Phone, with Video created by Craig MacNaugton on the 24th of July 2009. The Fibonacci Sequence is the series of numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, … The next number is found by adding up the two numbers before it. The 2 is found by adding the two numbers before it (1+1)

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA), The Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC), and the Canadian Music Centre (CMC) are pleased to announce the 10th edition of the Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium (TIES), and delighted to welcome multifaceted artist John Oswald as Keynote Speaker this year. Governor General award-winning and prolific media artist, composer and saxophonist, John Oswald is known for his famous Plunderphonics recordings among a host of other engaging and original projects.

The symposium will take place in Toronto from 10–13 August 2016 at Geary Lane and at the Canadian Music Centre.
